1. Designing a typeface for web-comics and I need everyone’s input.

So to start off, I’m a senior design student in Boston. I’m in a typography 3 class. We’re designing a typeface.

I’ve decided, for my project, that I want to design a typeface specifically for webcomics. First joke everyone says is “So you’re making a new comic sans?” But I’d like to stray from the marker felt style of typeface. Almost everyone makes comics digitally now, adding in the text with a computer, so why are we still treating web comics like they’re in the pages of a comic book.

I’ve presented my idea to a few comic artists but I need more input. A LOT more input. And I’d like to get your input. I dont know what kind of specifics I’ll be aiming for yet, but I’m going to survey a few comic artists before I start.

So that’s where you come in.

Below I have created a short survey for anyone who’s interested. I dont think it’s that long and you dont even need to answer all the questions, only a few are required, then you can answer whichever others you feel you’d like to.

Though please remember, the more detailed answers I receive, the better I can make this for everyone to use and enjoy.

Thank you all VERY MUCH for helping me out, I really do appreciate it.

And a special thanks to all the comic artists who I have asked for their help:
